Default [Space] Does the Sun orbit a Black hole ?

Does the Sun orbit a Black Hole ? We know that it orbits the Galactic Centre. BUT at the Galactic Center a Black Hole CAN be found.

its pretty much a proven fact that there is a black hole at the centre of the universe which has a far higher gravity field than anything in the galaxy therefore the galaxy orbits the black hole.

A galaxy is a galaxy.. The galaxy doesnt orbit a black hole. It has been found that that there are black holes in the center of galaxy. Mainly spiral galaxies per say. The sun moves closer to the black hole as it orbits around the galaxy due to the tremendous gravity the black hole has.

    I cannot wait.

I wonder how much fun it would be to get sucked in to a black hole.

I mean, time stops. That's the shit right there. It's like being high, without being high.

Haha, time doesnt stop for the person being sucked in, the person watching someone get sucked sees him freeze at the event horizon. But even though the sucked in person appears frozen outside, time continues for the sucked in person and he gets crushed. Its a special relativity thing.

I thought you'd die instantly because of the black holes gravitational force?

I would like to know the answer to your question as well. SO is the sun really orbiting a black hole? I have never learned this from a book or in school.

I thought our galaxy was orbiting around a black hole, and if you were sucked into a black hole would be immediately killed, I think it doesn't take a physicist to tell you that. xD
I remember watching this big special on black holes on Nova one time in school but I forget most of it other than we are drifting toward the Andromeda Galaxy and will eventually be destroyed when we crash into it.

They say that when you are sucked into a black whole every atom in your body is split one by one releasing massive amounts of painful energy with each explosion.

Also i believe that there is a black hole at the center of the milky way.

What's with humankind's fascination with "holes" and wanting to go in them, even if its gonna kill you? O.O
Stop going into holes! And stop desiring to go into holes!

That theory could explain why space itself is moving.

No it wouldnt because space is also expanding. Black holes suck things in, they dont push things out.

It's pretty much been proven there is indeed a black hole at the center of our galaxy. I actually watched a documentary about this sort of thing the other day. I guess that no one ever saw it before because its invisible to the naked eye, so they have to use a sort of "X-ray" telescope.

Obviously its invisible because light cannoy escepe it meaning it cannot reflect back. X rays wont be any different, we may see the energy released by a black hole but we will never see the thing itself.

Note how i said "X-ray" in quotes. I was only quoting what i watched. Oh and black holes are able to be viewed. Infrared telescopes are able to view them quite clearly actually.

The Keck II images were of such high spatial resolution that scientists could identify features in NGC 6240 captured by the other telescopes in the optical, X-ray and radio wavelengths.

And as you can see i just quoted a very reliable source on the matter. They ARE able to be viewed in X-Ray.

I do not see the point where all matter is sucked into "nothingness"

You mean in the picture? Uh, as you can see in the center of both galaxies there are two super massive black holes engulfing them.

The Moon orbits around the Earth. The Earth and the other 7 planets in the Solar System orbit the Sun. The Sun orbits around the CENTER of the Milky Way. At the center of galaxies a black hole can be found. Therefore it can be said that the Sun is indeed orbiting a black hole.

That's not the black hole you're seeing, that's the energy being released from it that you're seeing. A black hole is invisible. Hence the name "black" hole. What happens is when all the mass gets sucked in, it gets compacted and superheated and releases radiation. This is what they're seeing in the image.

Exactly my point. You will never be able to see the black hole itself, but only the energy released by it.
