Either include "StdAfx.h" at the top, or make a new project with the "Empty Project" template.

Repairing the installation won't help. He probably chose the "Win32 Console Application" template at the template selection window and accidentally removed the include because he copy and pasted the code from the tutorial he had recently written.

lol you where right all the way up to copy and paste cause i hand typed it so it would stick in my brain lol. the tutorial didn say anything about stdafx.h

Because stadfx.h is a file automatically created by Visual Studio, unless you edit the default settings. Most tutorials ignore it, because it is a Visual Studio only error that, if you had Googled, would have given you about a million copies of the same solution instantly.

I am in awe that it took an entire page for someone to say "disable pre-compiled headers". After someone told him to reinstall visual studio, no less!
