These are the things you should always have to create a good signature:
A Focal- Well, without a focal, there's nothing towards a signature. You'd basically be looking at an image with effects and brushing on it. Also, never have a double focal, it takes away from the flow. The only time I find its acceptable is when your contrasting them... like naruto vs sasuke i dunno
Flow- Its important to have flow because without it, the focal is gone. Flow mainly consists of the way the render/stock is positioned. So if a render is placed in a diagonally from top right to bottom left, effects/brushing/smudging etc should be that way too. Without flow the viewer's eyes are lost, it defines the focal and give it more appearance. Flow can also be defined as composition, it means you wouldn't put a Pokemon render with a gangster. It would completely throw it off.

Blending- Cant really stress this enough... YOU NEED TO BLEND YOUR RENDERS/STOCKS! If you just slap your render onto a canvas, its going to look horrible from the beginning. Simple ways of blending are; erasing edges, smudging edges, blurring edges, etc. This can help you:[Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...]
Depth- Depth means the perspective of a signature, the 3D look to it. By creating depth you can make it seem like parts of the signature is farther/closer than others. That's all i got sorry This will help though:[Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register...]
A Light Source- A light source will better define your focal, most will already have one, so your work is cut out for you. All you have to do is go along with it. So if the focal's light source is coming from the right, you definitely wouldn't want to create one from the left. This can help:[Only Registered and Activated Users Can See Links. Cleanliness- You never ever EVER! want your signature to be filled with effects/brushing etc. It'll be very chaotic and actually will take away from flow. But make sure not to go too simple.
Text- This is probably the hardest aspect of a signature, takes a long time to master. Sometimes great artists dont even master. Just remember that all signatures do not need text! It is a nice way to prevent rippers, and give you significance for making it, but if you take 5 minutes to browse through a GFX section. You'll see: "Text ruins it". Some simple ways to avoid getting a similar comment are; setting the text layer to overlay, playing around with the blending option. Or most importantly not adding text at all. I've chosen this path because it really bugs me when people say: "Great sig, but text ruins it", so i decided not to add any at all. Subaspects of text are; font and text placement.
