Default Any fixes to windows 7 lag issues?

So, when I play Maplestory on my Windows 7 PC, I have a strange issue.

In most maps, I lag terribly - ridiculous lag spikes every couple seconds. I don't know whether the cause is Hackshield or MS itself.

The only way these lag spikes do not occur is if there is another player in the same map. Some maps also do not lag.

Does anyone know a little more about this, or if there's any tweak to fix it? Attempting to run MS in compatibility mode does nothing, btw.

At first, when these first came around, I wouldn't lag if I simply injected a bypass before I played.

Now, it no longer works and my new pseudo-fix is to follow myself around on a mule, but nonetheless it makes walking from place to place extremely annoying.

You'd realize computer + internet is irrelevant in this situation if you had read either of my posts...

I was using Xp and Maple had run smoothly but then my cousin upgraded me to windows 7 and I got more lag. So much lag that I could not Cpq. But I don't play anymore. I suggest going back to windows Xp. Don't go vista cause it fails.

The XP fails in the way that I have problems bossing or visiting crowded areas, and I don't really want to downgrade my Windows 7 OS either.

I just recently upgraded to a really strong GFX card, HD 5770, and I no longer get this problem. its something to do with the lack of support maple has for anything above XP, so either dual-boot XP onto your pc to play maple or get over it? lol lower the quality or something. BTW, didnt get a strong GFX card for maple, it was so i can play BC2 =D the increase in performance for maple is just nothin but a plus =D

No lag at all with Windows 7 64-bit, maybe it's your computers problem?
It's a pretty common issue, surprisingly, and like I said, its more likely some kind of problem between Windows 7 and Maple - not a problem with the power of my computer.

If it was something with my computer or internet, why would the problem instantly disappear as soon as another player enters the map?

I tried to run maple on a virtual machine, but all I get is a white screen with sound(Windows XP SP2 on VMware Workstation). Later I tried it on Virtual PC, I got a Hack Shield initialization error. Gonna try run Win2k on both and report back...

    1. Downgrade to XP (before downgrading post in the GUID thread that you are downgrading so when you are done they hopefully would have already reseted guid so you canchange it)
    2. Window 7 looks great! But turn down teh graphics (my computer -> properties -> advanced: select for "best perfromance") This makes my XP look like the ones at school (so ugly) but it runs faster.
    3. Ctrl Alt Del -> Open task manager. Terminate tasks such as googleupdate.exe, adobe.exe, itunesstarter.exe, windowsdocs, msnmsg.exe. Basically anything you arne't using and update services should be turned off.

I have no issues with this. But i got a new computer Designed with Win 7 in mind. NOT every computer can handle it. The program has A LOT of graphic designs that require high amounts of RAM and Processing power. SO if you have issues with lag/spikes, its because your computer IS NOT apt for it, Or you do not meet the base requirements.

Uh... What was the point of that? I don't get it...
I tried to run MS on Win2k using VMware workstation, no luck. It works, but the lags are so bad that if you move the mouse it freezes for like one minute. Gotta try to run it on Virtual PC.
