    Default Void's Edits [Updated 9-24]

    September 24th: v155.1 patchers are updated.

    Why is this patcher different than others I used? The window looks different/icon isn't similar to other patchers I've used.
    As of now, I am using a different program to build and pack wz files into patchers to distribute to you guys. That means the way they run will be different as well. Things to notice different:
    -There should be a listing in the applications tab on windows task manager that says the program's name, not a clickteam patcher. There should also be a button in the taskbar.
    -This is a custom patcher. As you probably noticed there are several images inside the patcher to make it look unique.

    Basic info about wz file edits and patchers for newer users:
     
    The edits involved in the all in one patcher are tested thoroughly to ensure under normal circumstances to work on all machines that have Maplestory installed with clean files, regardless of where it's installed. The list of what each edit is made is listed under the Specifics section below. These modifications will not be detected by Nexon's system, though updates on their end or abuse of specific modifications can trigger a close connection flag.

    3 steps for running A Better Maplestory:
    1. Download the patcher(s) depending on whether you want to include godmode or not.
    2. Run A Better Maplestory.exe as admin, select the folder Maplestory is installed to, and wait for it to load the edits. (It has to process 4 wz files of information)
    3. Once the patcher is finished close it out and delete it. You won't need it anymore after that.
    For godmode: run the godmode.exe next in the same way, though it should be quicker with just one file to load.


    Projects; "A Better Maplestory" and "Hackerstory"
    I've been trying to come up with a way to reach out towards those that like to play legit/semi-legit more, so I will be dedicating project "A Better Maplestory" specifically for the sake of making the base gameplay more enjoyable and less annoying to legit/semi-legit playing. Project "Hackerstory" will take over for Void's Edits, having edits from the other project as well as ones specifically to give people an advantage. (Still determining which specific edits I will include in this one, possibly ones involving bosses that can be solo'ed)

    What are the changes being made?
    We'll start with each project individually;

    "A Better Maplestory"

    Specifics:
    Effect.wz-Removes damage numbers for both skinned and non-skinned numbers.
    Etc.wz-Removes curse filters, automated facial expressions when chatting, and being able to make male angelic buster characters.
    Map.wz-Removes damage elements from maps.
    Mob.wz-Evo Lab 3 Vac, shouldn't D/C or ban now, but still use with caution.

    "Hackerstory" (To be finished)

    Specifics:
    The above edits.
    Mob.wz-Full godmode and boss disarm.
    Map and UI.wz-Custom Login process and in game windows. (Working on getting in game windows modded.)
    Item.wz-Standard filter list. (Filters most common useless items/Codex cards that drop commonly.)
    More to come as I get ideas/suggestions.

    Tutorial for specific edits you can do yourself (Wall of text warning)
     

    Basic info about the wz files:

    Code:
    Base- The backbone of all the game files and how they get used for the game. This normally doesn't get messed with.
    Character- Holds most, if not all, the images and such used for all the players. (Hair, face, etc.) Also holds images of item animations worn by characters, pet equips, and familiar animations
    since familiars are extension of the player in game.
    Effect- As the name implies, holds all the special effects used in game. (Excluding skill effects, those are found inside skill.wz)
    Etc- Basically a melting pot of assorted properties. (Ban reasons, chat filters, and so on.)
    Item- Holds all the info for items in the game, sorted by number.
    Map- Has info related to all the different maps in the game, their platform properties, and so on.
    Mob- All the monsters in the game can be found here with detailed info regarding HP, MP, skills they use, EXP, so on and so forth.
    Morph- Holds info about the different transformations your character can take on from potions/mob spells. Much like Base, you generally don't mess with this.
    Quest- All info regarding quests, locations, requirements.
    Reactor- Holds info for all map elements your character can interact with using attacks and such. Much like Base, you generally don't mess with this.
    Skill- Contains info on every skill in the game, GM skills, familiar skills, and special mounts/pq skills included.
    Sound- Holds all the sound effects and background music (BGM) found in the game.
    String- Conatins text information and display elements for items. Much like Base, you generally don't mess with this.
    TamingMob- Honestly this isn't used anymore if I recall, it's only a 2kb file, but necessary cause mother Korea demands it.
    UI- This is how the game looks when being ran.
    Next we'll delve into the skill.wz specifically here, as there are a lot of jobs being represented by just numbers so it can be tricky to tell which class goes where, so here is a list of them.

    With that out of the way, let's go into some tutorials for modding files. (Assume most of these are being done from HaRepacker v4.23, unless otherwise said.):
    NOTE: Always ensure you have made a backup copy of the original file before making any modifications. You'll need the clean file to patch to the next official release.

    Most recent tutorial change made:
    -Updated steps for physical/magical godmode and boss disarm.

    Effect.wz-
     
    Damage removal
    Info: Cleans up the viewing area in game by making damage numbers disappear.
    Note: With the introduction of new effect styles from events in gMS v148.1, you have to repeat the steps below for NoCrit0/1 and NoRed0/1 inside of the damageSkin subproperty.
    1. In Effect.wz, go to the first option BasicEff.img and double click on it to open it.
    2. Scroll down until you come across lists that start with 'No' (NoBlue, NoCrit, etc.) and open them up.
    3. Highlight each number one by one, 0-9, and in some cases effect, counter, guard, miss, etc. hit change image and select a completely transparent image to replace it with. (One can be found in the download section of this thread.)
    (Blue=Healing Damage, Crit=Giant red numbers, Violet=Damage to self or others, Red=Normal Damage)
    NOTE: Deleting the node will make you crash anytime a damage number is called for by the game. You have to replace it with a transparent image.
    4. Scroll back up to Catch and expand it, selecting Fail. Replace that image with a transparent image.
    5. Save the Effect.wz file and put it in your game folder.


    Etc.wz-
     
    Curse filter removal
    Info: This will keep the chat from being mostly *********** and allow you to read everything sent.
    (The chat system runs off packets, that once received go through the Curse.img property to check for matches to replace.)
    1. In Etc.wz, go to Curse.img and expand it.
    2. Highlight every property in this image and delete them.
    (Don't delete Curse.img itself otherwise everytime the game calls to check for a curse word from a chat packet being received it'll crash.)
    3. Save the Etc.wz file and put it in your game folder.

    Male Angelic Busters
    Info: If you don't like having female characters, or want a girl class as a guy crossdresser, here you go.
    1. In Etc.wz go to MakeCharInfo.img and expand it.
    2. Under the 6001 sublist, go to ChooseGender and change the value to 1.
    3. Save the Etc.wz file.

    Remove automated chat faces
    Info: Ever get annoyed when your character automatically registers what you type in chat and makes a face for it? Example typing "D:" in the in-game chat makes your character use the default facial key F3. This should remove that issue.
    1. In Etc.wz go to expressionOnFace.img and expand it.
    2. Highlight all WzStringProperty files found inside and delete them.
    3. Save the Etc.wz file.


    Item.wz-
     
    Item Filter/Kanna Blood Removal
    Info: Removes items on the ground so you don't have to deal with them.
    Also used to remove blood drops from Kanna skill Soul Shred which is 4033270, include deleting the animations.
    1. In Item.wz expand the number subproperties to find the item you're wanting to filter. (Item archive can be found in 1st post.)
    2. Inside the item, locate icon and iconRaw, delete the iconRaw and leave icon alone.
    3. Save Item.wz.


    Map.wz-
     
    No damage from map elements (DeMSwz)
    NOTE: Magnus Meteors is a skill, and there is no known method of blocking this ATM.
    Info: Blocks all possible elements in maps that deal damage. Ones that get spawned in after the map loads probably do not get filtered.
    1. Open Map.wz and delete everything inside of it except for Obj.
    2. Save that as a separate wz file and name it whatever you want. (I just name it Obj.wz for clarity.)
    3. Open DeMsWZ and use the damage 0 property modifier and save to the same wz file you just created.
    4. Open that wz file and highlight Obj, hit export as new XML.
    5. Open the original Map.wz file and expand Obj.
    6. Delete everything inside of it and then highlight the emptied Obj.
    7. Click import XML and select all of the XML dumps from the modified wz file. (Obj.wz)
    8. Save as Map.wz once everything is imported.


    Mob.wz-
     
    Physical/Magical godmodes with boss disarm (DeMSwz)
    Info: Keeps you from taking damage from mobs by touching them or letting them cast their spells.
    (Will give a notice in game whenever you attack a mob. Just close it and move on.)
    1. Open Mob.wz and uncheck all boxes (Including the View only box), except the first one bodyAttack and the last one which is blank.
    2. In the blank box type 'attackAfter' (Case sensitive) and '9999999'
    (More 9s means longer duration to wait, but sometimes can cause you to disconnect after a while.)
    3. Process all
    4. Replace 'attackAfter' with 'effectAfter', leave the 9s in place, uncheck bodyAttack.
    5. Process all again.
    6. Check View only and hit save as Mob.wz.

    Evolution Lab 3 passive vac
    Info: Makes the flying mushrooms constantly aggro'd to the machine inside the map by changing it's timed property to be continuous.
    1. Open Mob.wz and go to 9306202.img
    2. Highlight info and then add WzCompressedIntProperty 'damagedByMob' (Case sensative) with a value of 1 as a compressedint file.
    3. Select category and change its value to 8.
    4. (Optional) Go to 9306002.img, highlight info and add 'flySpeed' with a value of 127 as a compressedint file.
    5. Save Mob.wz.


    Skill.wz-
     
    addAttack properties
    Info: This one is such a vague topic it's not really a tutorial, but there's no better place for it as it is one of the most important properties in skill.wz with so many uses to it.
    1. The basics of how addAttack works is that it calls to another property inside the skill.wz file, usually with chained attacks or skill combos.
    (Examples would be Demon lash, Dragon Slash, etc.)
    2. addAttack can be added onto any skill to allow for chaining skills/buffs together, and the opposite is true too; it can be removed from any skill to allow for it to be used solo.
    3. In special cases addAttack can cause an infinite loop to allow for a skill to be used indefinitely.
    Below are some cases of addAttack modifications:

    Unhiding skills
    Info: Certain skills are hidden from your skill list, yet your character makes use of them, whether they're combo skills, passives, or just nexon wanting you to use an inefficient mechanic to access them.
    1. Find the skill that is hidden from your skill list and highlight 'invisible'.
    2. Delete this property.
    3. Save skill.wz

    Unlinking skills
    1. Go to a skill that has a combo set for it, such as the above examples.
    2. Do one of the following to the addAttack inside of the skill depending how you want to use it.
    2a. Solo use: Delete the addAttack property for the section of the combo you want to isolate. (Example Dragon Slash 3rd slash)
    2a.1 Remove the invisible property from it, and save the skill.wz file. In game you will be able to drag the skill onto your keyboard shortcuts and use it alone.
    2b. Sequence mod: Change the skill ID inside the addAttack property for the initiating skill.
    (Using the above example change addAttack skill id in Dragon Slash 1st slash to jump to 3rd slash instead of 2nd slash.
    You can then go into the 3rd slash and modify it's addAttack skill ID from 1st slash to 3rd to make it loop until you stop attacking.) Save skill.wz and use in game.

    Chaining buffs/attacks
    1. Go to the buff you want to start the sequence with and add into it the addAttack subproperty.
    2. Inside the sub property you'll need the following; activeTime 10, isAuto 1 (0=False, 1=True), skill ID of skill you want to follow, and type 1.
    3. Repeat step 2 for as many buffs you want to link together, and this isn't limited to the marco system 3 skills per key,
    you can have it set to use every skill if you wanted to. Can also use for things besides just buffs, but also link skill sequences for fast consistant strikes against enemies.

    Animation removal
    Info: This will get rid on animations for any skill you apply this to. Certain buffs become instant cast when using this method, in other words no delay buffing.
    1. Go inside skill.wz and find the skill you want to remove the animation for.
    2. Expand the following subproperties that apply; affected, effect, effect1, and so on. Check each number inside to see if any properties call for a source. If so locate the source directory and keep note of them.
    3. Delete all skill effect and affected images from the skill.
    4. This will allow some buffs to be cast without needing to wait for the full animation to finish before you can move again. Otherwise locate 'action' for the buff you want to modify and delete the '0' property inside action.
    5. Save skill.wz.


    Sound.wz-
     
    Replace ingame music
    Info: If you dislike the background music and don't want to mute it. Personally I'd just use Pandora or something, but if you want a specific song for a specific map then here you go.
    1. Go inside sound.wz and find the list of Bgmxx.img and expand them.
    2. Inside each image is a series of titles for musical pieces. The titles are rather odd at times (Nightmare, GoPicnic, so on), though some actually match with the map region they are labeled for (SleepyWood, Aquarium, so on) I'm not going to list all the different soundtracks and their locations, because there are a lot.
    3. Once you find one you want to replace then select Change sound and select the .mp3 file you want to replace it with. (For best results, modify the song file in a music modifier program to let the song last some time before looping, but make sure the file isn't too big or else the wz file will become too large to operate properly.)
    4. Once you modify all the songs you want save to your sound.wz file and enjoy new music for Maple.


    UI.wz-
     
    Custom Login screen
    Info: Tired of the normal login screen or wanting something unique/advertising potential with patchers? Modify the image everyone sees on maple start.
    NOTE: This is technically a UI edit, but it required modding both UI and Map.wz.
    Part A: Map.wz
    1. Browse Map.wz and go to login.img, back, then node 11.
    2. Take a 800x600 image and replace the current image there.
    3. Go to node 35 and replace the image of the tree with a transparent image.
    4. Save Map.wz and close it.
    (OPTIONAL) You can also replace backdrop for world/channel selection screen, character selection screen, and character creation screens from Map.wz. Be creative.
    Part B: UI.wz
    1. Browse UI.wz and go to login.img, common, then frame.
    2. Save the image in here and modify it to make it what you want, or use as a template for making a unique frame. (size 800x600 as well, central area of frame NEEDS to be transparent for rest of login screen to function.)
    3. Once you have the frame modified, look into title, and you can modify all the components of the login buttons/fields. (Make them transparent to show the background image better, or blurred to help show where to click.)
    4. Save UI.wz and close it.
    (OPTIONAL) You can modify the world, channel, character selection, as well as character creation, PIC buttons, and more from UI.wz. Again, be creative.

    Cryptic PIC code
    Info: If you like recording Maplestory videos/stream the game on twitch, but don't want to worry about needing to censor your PIC code clicking, this can fix that.
    NOTE: This only works on the numbers, as when you click the letter buttons it'll briefly show the letter you clicked on as it cycles through them with each click; A>B>C>A>etc.
    NOTE 2: This will not change your actual PIC, this just changes the images that appear on screen. Can fool screen recorders/streams where you forget to put up the censor to keep someone from stealing your PIC. However, this will not save you from someone recording the login packet with the PIC code or that downloads your UI.wz file and goes in to find the changes made and deciphers your code.
    1. Open UI.wz and go to Login.img, common, then SoftKey.
    2. Save the images for each BtNum image and come up with your own codification to remember your new PIC. (Ex. Replace BtNum>0>normal>0.img with BtNum>6>normal>0.img so that 0 will show up as a 6 instead.)
    3. Make the changes to all numbers for disabled, mousedover, normal, and pressed.
    4. Save UI.wz and close it.

    Custom interface
    Info: Everyone likes having a unique, custom interface that fits their playstyle. If you know about making graphic works of art then here you go.

    [MENTION=440655]VoidedDarkness[/MENTION], I don't think you can kill yourself by using the skills on Demon Avenger, so to me the WZ edit is pointless other than having to take time to depatch when the next patch comes out. If I hold my skill button and drop to minimum health, it'll keep using the spell, but I should die on the next hit (if I wasn't using GodMode).

    If you are using ones that take a %health cost then yeah those are programmed to attack and then try to deduct %heath rather than check first. If you're using skills that take flat health then you shouldn't be able to use them unless you had that health, kinda like the old mpCon.

    I'm having a big big problem . So i always dl skill wz, map wz, and mob wz. On my kaiser I always disc only when I fight bosses or monsters with alot of hp like stronghold monsters. Been happening pretty much since kanna came around. I thought it might have been the skill wz but I tried my hero and i still disc. I thought it might be the map wz so i took it off and i was still having problems. I don't think it's my cpu because I haven't had this problem before kanna. Other non hacking people don't really share my same problem so I don't think its a server issue. So I guess that leaves the mob wz. I'm really hoping you have some kind of solution for this

    I'm having a big big problem . So i always dl skill wz, map wz, and mob wz. On my kaiser I always disc only when I fight bosses or monsters with alot of hp like stronghold monsters. Been happening pretty much since kanna came around. I thought it might have been the skill wz but I tried my hero and i still disc. I thought it might be the map wz so i took it off and i was still having problems. I don't think it's my cpu because I haven't had this problem before kanna. Other non hacking people don't really share my same problem so I don't think its a server issue. So I guess that leaves the mob wz. I'm really hoping you have some kind of solution for this

    oh and when I attack I'm also just holding down the hotkeyed skill button
    Unfortunately I have no idea what would be causing that, some people claim mob.wz edits are patched to cause you to dc but I haven't had issues while testing them. If you have issues with the wz godmode though the only alternative would be a script godmode through cheat engine/public hack trainer.

    Either you have a different form of the v139 skill.wz file, didn't run patcher as admin, or firewall/anti-virus intercepted the file before it could patch the wz.

    It's a false positive. The way the patcher codes the data needed to change the wz files it makes it seem like a virus.

    Yes, mobs will not be able to use touch damage or magic attacks as long as the server reads the mob data off your client. If someone else is there it'll read off theirs too and it'll override the attackAfter property, but you'll always have the physical godmode.

    You download each part of the .rar file and extract it to one place to create the skill.wz file, then place that in your maple directory.
