I never understood the point of cryptocurrency. If I wanted to waste time and energy on a very volatile pseudo-money, I'd just go play Monopoly with some friends.

And I'm quite sure that that rig would put out more BTUs than the hot plates we have in one of the chemistry labs at my school. I'd put a beaker of water on a heatsink coming from that thing and watch the water boil.

      AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor HDZ965FBGMBOX - Newegg.com
NewEgg sold that until very recently. Well past Vishera recently. It was sold for the better part of 5 years. Though it was mostly delusion in my opinion, people clear up through 2012-13 argued that it held up.
I never had a 965, but I've had one lower in the spectrum, and dayum: it'd make you question how far we've come exactly in 5 years.

There was a saying for the California Gold Rush about making loads of money from striking rich by selling tools to miners because nobody actually got rich from mining.
You have to wonder how literal history repeating itself is and whether it finds itself humourous. I mean, coinoftheday MINING FFS, lol.

Yeah, I'd use that rig to play MineCraft. Maybe League once in a while. JS

Well, I mean, it took AMD the better part of five years for their last architecture to be really, really good (the Phenom 2 was a BEAST).
The process shrink in Kaveri + some IPC improvements make the latest generation not bad.
With another process shrink and the same IPC improvements, they'd rival Intel's last three generations with performance per core and per watt... in my opinion.

AMD's graphics cards are completely fucked right now. Apparently the latest cards were found to be the holy grail of coinoftheday mining, so there was so much demand for them that the supply got weird and is still weird. Every single R9 290x on NewEgg is sold out, and NewEgg is selling them at $700 each. They are like $400 cards...

AMD needs to get their heads out of their asses and make a fucking NUC with Kaveri. It will be the ultimate RTS LAN device due to Mantle, and it will be the ultimate office machine due to HSA (if you haven't seen the numbers for HSA and LibreOffice, they're fairly interesting...)

My AMD-NUC/small form factor boner is getting bigger.

So, what do people play at LAN parties? Quite, quite often, it's RTS's, yes?
With Mantle, CPU stress is reduced and some of the burden transferred to the GPU (the GPU handles it quite efficiently, so I'll pretend like it's just magical burden lifting). What does this mean? RTS's, which are traditionally CPU intensive, have more CPU headroom.

And the best part about all of this is that it isn't even theory really: see the Star Swarm benchmark on Steam. It actually works.

I'd probably go with someone that makes their own memory controller personally. I'd also avoid Toshiba at the moment because they seem to be aiming products at enterprise levels and flinging shit in the faces of consumers.

Newegg.com - SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Samsung EVO is TLC, but this is a newer drive and advertises 540 MB/s read and 1.5M hours MTBF. Write speeds aren't the highest, but if this is going to be a boot drive, then write speeds can go fuck themselves.

Not sure what you're saying. You need an SSD recommendation?

I was watching something, albeit I forget where. If you change the config file to run the game at 60 FPS, the game runs twice as fast and your car is impossible to control, lol.

Config file to 60 FPS, CheatEngine to reduce to 1/2 speed. LOGIC!

      No dual-channel with DDR4.
Memory controller outputs directly to a point on the DIMM and back to the memory controller as opposed to trying to write to one controller writing to two DIMMs.

Boards *might* become cheaper as memory controllers don't have to work to run shit in parallel and have massive crosstalk restrictions.
DDR4 *might* start off pricey as DDR sales have never been terribly profitable (or profitable at all in the case of some companies) but hopefully get cheaper. And it looks like we're moving from CAS 9 being the norm to CAS 12, which isn't as big as the jump from DDR2 to DDR3. I have no clue how well it'd overclock though (bandwidths and latencies): either very well compared to DDR3 because of the better memory interface and more direct connection, or worse because schticks o' RAM might be sold closer to their actual maximum performance.

So, anyways, AMD showed Kaveri as running BF4 at 1080p on medium with DirectX 11. Mantle might be able to do something fierce, and a $150 CPU + GPU combination might be all that is neccesary for 1080p gaming.

So we have that going for us, which is nice.

Number two looks vaguely like some logo I've seen in a video game some time, but I can't put my finger on it, and number three looks like it wants me to join its church.

My friend is big into BF3. He showed me a glitch in some map where you can get into a water tower, and you can shoot out of it but nobody can shoot into it.
Battlefield 3 and 4, produced by the Combat Arms team.

But to answer the question, I don't know if the real game is out or if only the beta is still out.

To be fair, all of thsoe glitches were in the campaign, and nobody besides me likes games for their story and gameplay. (oh wait...)

I've seen some stupid shit with th multiplayer though. The "destructable environment physics" that they spent so much time on and advertise so highly is absolute garbage and usually ends up with big, smooth particles undergoing three times the magnitude of acceleration that they would get if the collisions took place in this universe.
