It also depends on what you would be doing as well. Gaming? Video rendering?

No computer with a 1080p monitor should need a 980, it is really more for the 4k set ups.

The 970 would suffice for running every game on ultra.

    Or a 760, lol.

Or wait a couple weeks for the 960 to get to market.

    Or don't necropost.

Yeah, but I considered since they're selling the 760 on Amazon for like $250. The 970 is only $80 more. Might as well shell out the extra $80.

Without being too specific, the key things you'll want to include to maximize performance (1200 just for tower) is an i7-6700k cpu and a gtx 1070 (or 1080 if it fits the budget). For ram, unless you are going to be doing computational tasks such as video editing, you should 8 gigs. Most people will never hit that cap. PSU, I recommend any EVGA SuperNova models. HTH!

PSu: EVGA SUPERNOVA G2 MODELS. I grabbed the G2L for lights but got the 750 watts for extra nice looking cables. original price on mines was around 129? but got a deal that dropped it to $79.99. If I was you i would budget at least $1400... only because parts would be around 1000-1200 but the tax shoots it up to 1400+ lol!!!
