hi everyone, this is my first tutorial so I hope that it is clear enough. OK, enough intro, you came here for instruction.

definition of dispersion - an effect where the subject appears to be dissolving or unraveling

step 1 - find a rendered subject, preferably one that is facing sideways.

step 2 (optional) - crate a background using whatever method you like

Step 3 - duplicate the render layer and transform the lower layer width to 125% then (IMAGE>ADJUSTMENT>BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST) and set the brightness to -150.

step 4 - duplicate the original layer below the darkened layer and transform the width to 200% then merge the two transformed layers.

step 5 - select the merged transformation layer and (LAYER>LAYER MASK>HIDE ALL)

step 6 - Using a variety of your favorite WHITE streak and splatter brushes, paint back some of your transformed layer giving it an unraveling look. I personally added some smudging to the original render so that the layers flow. If you want another example, click .
